Indian unit of US auto maker General Motors,
reports that it had a record rise
in sales. Sales were led by
its compact car Spark and Aveo sedan. |

General Motors
India Pvt. Ltd., is targeting a 10% market
share of the country's booming vehicle
market by 2010. It sold 5,817 units in
August compared with 2,720 units sold last year. |

The
company said this is the
highest monthly sales ever achieved by GM India since
its inception. |

GM
markets its products in India under the
Chevrolet brand name. August's sales of its
Spark auto were 1,962 units while the Aveo
sales were 1,567 units. |

Additionally
General Motors India also
sells the Optra sedan, Tavera multi-utility vehicle and the Aveo
U-VA and SRV hatchbacks in the country. |

Ford Motor
expects its Brazilian auto sales to slow
next year. Its business during 2007 experienced a
surge in demand that appears to have been
based on improved credit conditions. |
